M6400 Small cutting from a noted Missal, in Latin, manuscript on parchment, France, c. 1150
Rectangular cutting, indentured at head to form a spine support for a later book, remains of 9 lines in two sizes of a good early gothic bookhand, with a st-ligature and without biting curves, the smaller script accompanied with music in neumes on a 4-line red stave, rubrics in red, larger initials in red or blue with scalloping decorative penwork, discoloured sections, small scuffs, overall fair and presentable condition, 76 by 160mm.
A small but appealing cutting, with charming early gothic script and decoration.
