  • M6411 Readings from Gregory, Decretales, including part of the Quaestionem , in Latin, manuscript on parchment [Italy (perhaps Bologna), late thirteenth century or c. 1300]
Bifolium (trimmed at base, with loss of lower border and perhaps a line or two of text), double column, 61 lines in a rounded Italian early gothic bookhand, paragraph marks and rubrics in red, initials in blue or red with scrolling penwork, running title numbers (“III” and “IIII”) in red or blue alternately at head of leaves, some areas darkened and others scuffed, else in fair condition, each leaf 325 by 275 mm.
While the rubrics of the first leaf here agree perfectly with those of the Quaestionem (a series of set legal questions and answers thought helpful for the legal student and practitioner to know), the corresponding text only loosely agrees with the published text of those questions, and this here would appear to be a paraphrased variant. The second leaf contains the Decretales IV, titulus 6.
