Cutting from a bifolium, 13 lines remaining in an elegant monastic English bookhand, paragraph marks in delicate scrolls of red foliage, one-line, initials in red or vivid green, one large green initial enclosing red penwork foliage, reused in a binding, some green paint of large initial flaked away, overall fair condition, 105 x 258 mm.

From Ampleforth Abbey, and deaccessioned in 2010.

This is the last remnant of a once handsome English Psalter from Anglo-Norman England, written at a time when the Norman Conquest and the Domesday inquest were childhood memories for the elderly.
